Welcome to Joe Jr.™ Pilates for Kids at Studio Lotus
Pilates for Kids.
Fitness for a Lifetime.
Studio Lotus introduces Joe Jr.™ Pilates for Kids, a Pilates program specifically designed for kids ages 7-13. Joe Jr. Pilates for Kids launches this fall offering a 10-week series from September 10 - November 12. This program brings Atlanta’s premier certified Pilates instruction to kids through Studio Lotus’ classical approach founded on the original teachings and intentions of Joseph Pilates.
With dramatic cuts to physical education programs in schools being made, Studio Lotus believes Pilates is an alternative exercise program that can provide a highly effective way to keep kids fit and improve their strength, stamina and flexibility while also helping them with weight management, mental concentration, and self-esteem and confidence among other things.
New Spring Series: April 15- May 20, 2008
6-weeks series
Open to ages 7-13
Held Tuesdays from 4:00-4:50pm
$75 for series or $16/class
In addition to mat Pilates instruction, kids will receive supplemental tips for an overall healthy lifestyle on featured topics such as nutrition, stress management and self-care. Parents can also get in shape by scheduling a workout while their kids are in class.
Pilates & Kids
Scientific research continuously points to the fact that our children do not exercise enough and that the quality of their exercise is not sufficient to maintain optimal physical and mental health. Why not introduce them to a safe and effective form of exercise that will not only increase their strength, stamina and flexibility, but also help improve their concentration, mental agility and self-esteem? Pilates has been shown to increase both strength and flexibility in children. Simultaneously, learning Pilates at a young age may help prevent injuries and stimulate a more positive attitude toward lifetime physical activity.
Studio Lotus’ Joe Jr. Program encourages your child to:
- Create healthy habits for life.
- Learn and feel excited about exercise and stretching as a lifelong habit.
- Get moving while sharpening their listening skills and memory.
A recent Study in Newsweek found that:
- “the kids with the fittest bodies were the ones with the fittest brains.”
- “…having a workout will help with focus, calming down, impulsivity.”
- “…exercise probably has a more long-lasting effect on brains that are still developing.”
- “…exercise sped up not just executive functioning, but a broad variety of skills ranging from math to logic to reasoning.”
During a pilot program where children learned Pilates in their school, preliminary results revealed:
- Increased strength (increases averaged greater than 30%)
- Increased balance (increases averaged greater than 70%)
- Increased flexibility (96.4% of participating students were able to bend forward and touch their finger tips to the floor or greater as compared to the pre-program findings of only 35.5%).
