An Exploration of Anatomy & Individual Needs

BASICS OF ANATOMY with Audrey Jones, DPT
Saturday, October 20 | 9:00-1:00pm | $198 | 4 PMA CECs
This 4-hour workshop is a study of basic anatomical language, which contains an introduction to planes of movement and major concepts of the skeletal and muscular systems. The course includes an outline, literature and hands on experience.
Prerequisite: Ideal for instructors and clients who have minimal or no previous anatomical knowledge. Please bring Anatomy of Movement by Calais-Germaine. This course is a prerequisite for all Power Pilates apparatus programs (unless you can provide proof of attendance in a course within the last five years).
COMMON CONDITIONS with Audrey Jones, DPT
Saturday, October 20 | 2:00-5:00pm | $149 | 3 PP CECs
Come explore the pathology of common conditions presented in the Pilates workout. This course allows you to recognize signs and symptoms, as well as deepen your understanding of the anatomical pathology of your clientele.
Prerequisite: None; open to all.

REAL MEN DO PILATES with Davidson Reid

This workshop will help instructors work more effectively with a growing client base: male clients. Common patterns of muscular imbalance and weakness among men will be addressed, as well as specific ways to improve them. You will also learn techniques that will assist men in integrating key concepts of strength, stability, stretch and stamina into a well-balanced and challenging workout.
Prerequisite: Open to instructors and clients with mat and apparatus experience.
HOW TO “C” EFFECTIVELY with Davidson Reid

Learn how to choose an effective “C” module to individualize and maximize your clients’ sessions. We will explore ways to properly assess when clients need specific work on the four S’s — strength, stretch, stamina and stability — and which apparatus and exercises can best accommodate each.
Prerequisite: Instructors with intermediate level apparatus teaching experience.
A PILATES PREGNANCY with Anne Brendle
Sunday, October 21 | 1:00-3:00pm | $99 | 2 PP CECs
Are you intimidated by working with pregnant clients? Are you familiar with the ‘do’s’ and ‘don’ts’ of challenging Moms-to-be with a safe and effective workout? Do you know how to address the needs of your clients upon returning to Pilates after giving birth? Boost your skill set and confidence by learning how to adapt your pregnant client’s workout to accommodate her throughout her pregnancy, as well as how to safely rebuild her workout post-natally. Case studies will be discussed.
Pre-requisite: Open to instructors with mat and apparatus teaching experience, as well as pre- and post-natal clients.
SPECIAL NEEDS STRATEGIES with Anne Brendle

Open yourself to simple concepts and strategies when working with your “special needs” clientele. This workshop will first introduce youto the biomechanical aspects of your special needs clientele and offer suggestions on how to teach the exercises to meet your clients’ biomechanical needs, while maintaining a workout within the classical Pilates system.
Prerequisite: Mat and/or apparatus teaching experience.
