Studio Lotus: Good pilates changes your body. Great pilates changes everything.™

Our Team

Studio Lotus Pilates instructors are a remarkable group of smart, dedicated and passionate teachers who strive to bring out the very best in themselves and their clients. They boast an impressive set of credentials, both in and out of the studio. And though their personalities and teaching styles are as diverse as their outside areas of expertise, they share several important attributes:

  • Comprehensive training in classical Pilates.
  • A thorough knowledge of the Pilates method.
  • The skill and enthusiasm to effectively communicate their knowledge so that clients may reap maximum results from Pilates.
  • And the ability to make critical, informed choices within a Pilates workout to address the individual needs of clients.

To be maximally effective, Pilates requires not only consistent practice from you, the client – but also consistent instruction of the highest caliber from us, the studio. Every instructor at Studio Lotus has completed a classical and comprehensive Pilates certification program. What sets our instructors apart is not only their broad knowledge of the principles of Pilates and the method itself, but the motivation and inspiration with which they teach the method. Very simply, they love Pilates—they love teaching Pilates—and they are very good at it.

Through Pilates, many of our instructors have experienced improvements in the same chronic weaknesses, pain and injuries their clients’ experience. And all have seen significant, even dramatic changes in their own bodies, which only reaffirms their belief in the power of Pilates. With almost 30 certified Pilates instructors working at our studios, Studio Lotus offers a highly-skilled instructor perfectly suited to motivate you and help you achieve your goals.

Studio Lotus views its instructors’ Pilates certification as a beginning, rather than an end. Committed to furthering their Pilates education, we provide ongoing learning from in-house Power Pilates Senior Teacher Trainers, Davidson Reid and Anne Brendle, as well as host Power Pilates Continuing Education workshops throughout the year. In addition to Davidson and Anne teaching continuing education workshops at Studio Lotus, some of the most experienced Pilates educators in the industry today, including Bob Liekens, Susan Moran and Howard Sichel, have come to Studio Lotus to lead continuing education. These workshops are attended by not only our own certified Pilates instructors, but also by many other certified Pilates instructors throughout Atlanta and the southeast.

Davidson Reid Photo

Davidson Reid

Owner/Director of Studio Lotus (Atlanta, GA)
Power Pilates Senior Teacher Trainer
Power Pilates Southeastern Regional Director

With more than twenty years of Pilates experience, Davidson brings a wealth of knowledge to Studio Lotus as its Owner and Director of Teacher Training.  He was first exposed to Pilates as a teenager as part of his early dance training and continued to study the technique upon moving to New York at 17 to pursue a career in classical ballet.  As a Power Pilates Senior Teacher Trainer and the Southeastern Regional Director, Davidson travels and leads teacher training programs and continuing education courses throughout the U.S. and internationally, training more than 600 Pilates instructors to date.

In 2009 Davidson was introduced to Redcord.  With its ability to address muscle imbalances and improve core stability, he immediately recognized its value and connection with classical Pilates.  Over time, he began to see how Redcord addresses and corrects weak links in the body in a way that other modalities are simply not able to.  This has enabled many of Studio Lotus’ clients to achieve levels of stability, fitness and strength that were previously out of their reach.  Studio Lotus currently has eleven Redcord-trained instructors on staff and the technique has become an integral part of its services.

Davidson brings a strong understanding of the biomechanics of movement and a passion for teaching to serve a diverse clientele and develop some of the most talented new generation of instructors.  He lives in Decatur with his wife, Danielle, and his sons, Matthew and Andrew.

Coming to the world of Pilates from a very different background, Danielle completed Power Pilates Beginner and Intermediate Mat in 2002, and went on to complete the Power Pilates Comprehensive Certification program in 2005. She credits Pilates for helping with her own successful recovery from injuries developed while running competitively in college.  Today Danielle serves as Studio Lotus’ Chief Financial Officer and General Manager.  She has a wide range of responsibilities, including marketing, human resources and accounting.  She and Davidson live in Decatur with their two young sons, Matthew and Andrew.

As its Owner and Director, she is excited to be part of Studio Lotus’ expansion into north Atlanta and to extend the reach of Pilates, Kettlebells and Redcord.

Wendy Latorre Adams

Pilates Instructor

Wendy was introduced to Pilates mat classes when she was fifteen-years old and a pre-professional student in Atlanta Ballet’s Centre for Dance Education. Pilates kept her strong and free from pain during the rest of her dance career, which continued until her early twenties as she performed with the Washington Ballet, the Atlanta Ballet, and Encore Dance Theatre in Athens, Georgia. After the birth of her daughter and ensuing abdominal surgery, Wendy started working on the Pilates apparatus in 2004 at Studio Lotus and quickly decided to pursue teacher training through Power Pilates. She completed Power Pilates Comprehensive Training at Studio Lotus in June 2005. Additionally, Wendy took her belief in the healing power of massage to the next level by attending the Academy of Somatic Healing Arts (ASHA) where she became a Certified Neuromuscular Massage Therapist in September 2005. Wendy is convinced that the combination of Pilates and massage can keep one balanced, strong, and out of pain. When not in the studio, Wendy loves spending time with her husband, Michael, and her beautiful daughter, Maya.  She teaches at Studio Lotus.

As a Pilates instructor in Philadelphia for three years, she continued her studies with Bob Liekens and Susan Moran of Power Pilates in New York City.  Now in Atlanta with her husband Mark and son Liam, Cheryl wants to help people gain more strength and mobility utilizing the technique and structure of the Power Pilates method she loves so much.

Betsy Hunter Hughes

Manager, Studio Lotus (Marietta) / Pilates Instructor

Betsy’s love of physical fitness started early when she began studying dance and competitively swimming at the age of four.  After twelve years of pursuing both, dance won out when she attended the University of Alabama on dance scholarship.  It was there that she was introduced to Pilates. Betsy completed her senior year at Hunter College in New York City, where she completed her degree in Dance and Theater. In New York, she worked at Crunch Fitness Lafayette St., taking and teaching a variety of fitness programs, including yoga, kickboxing and weight-training.  At 23, Betsy decided to become certified as a personal trainer, move to Atlanta and continue to work for Crunch Fitness.

Although active in many different fitness modalities, Betsy felt something was still missing.  At the age of 27, she had a very successful personal training and corporate fitness business with a strong referral system.  But still looking for something more for her body and for her clients, she took her first session on the Pilates apparatus at Studio Lotus with Davidson in March 2004.  After just one session, she knew that this was the missing link and she began her comprehensive Training program six weeks later.

During Comprehensive Training, Betsy gave up all other fitness modalities to ‘test the waters’ of Pilates.  After only three months, her body fat was down by 4.5%.  Her body changed immensely, but had not lost any endurance.  It was official: Pilates works.  She believes that the strength, balance and stamina gained from Pilates cannot be matched. It’s with this confidence in the method that she brings her teaching and leadership to Studio Lotus at Atlanta Ballet.  As manager of Studio Lotus’ Marietta location, she is excited and humbled to not only continue introducing clients to the incredible world of Pilates, but also to lead the team of instructors in finding their best ‘self.
